Warranty > Champion

Step 1:

Have Ready your Receipt-Of-Purchase

This must be a receipt or invoice, this cannot be a bank transaction record. You can however use a bank transaction record to determine the date of purchase and have the original seller look up your receipt or invoice in their system.

Whilst invoice or receipt recovery differs per retailer, the standard is that they are usually able to retrieve invoices and receipts up to 1 year in-store. Longer periods from date of purchase may need the help of said retailers corporate line.

Step 2:

Find and make note of your units model and Serial Number

The Number printed on the front of the unit is NOT the model number used for warranty. The Model number and serial number relevant to warranty claims is located on a silver/white sticker which includes your units manufacturing information. This may be found on the gas tank or engine unit.

Step 3:

Register Your Product

With the information from Step 1 and Step 2, register your Champion Generator via the Manufacturers website.

Step 4:

Contact Champion

Customer Must call Champion Warranty helpline (1-877-338-0999) or email customer.service@cpea.com. and obtain a claim number.

This is where you will provide your receipt-of-purchase alongside your model number serial number and contact  information to Champion. Make note of the “claim number” provided to you by Champion, this is required by the warranty process. You must have a claim number before you can have any warranty work done.

Step 5:

Unit Drop-off or Pick/up.

Contact I Know A Guy at the retailer provided phone number (only applicable for Home Hardware Customers) or our general line 705 937 8467. Confirm with staff you have completed steps 1-3 and either arrange for your unit to be picked-up or drop your unit off at our Midland location (174 Pillsbury Drive).

Whether you are having your unit picked-up or dropping it off, you will need to fill out a warranty form with I Know A Guy providing contact and (if applicable) delivery information.

Step 6:

Warranty completion, and non-warranty expectations

After dropping off or having your unit picked up, please note it may take some time to contact Champion, and test the unit for issues. Like many manufacturers Champion will have I Know A Guy  carry out tests on your unit to determine the best course of action and how to resolve the issue. Upon completion of warranty work, customers will be called and the unit may be picked up free of charge in a regular warranty scenario; i.e all labour and parts are covered under warranty.

Alternatively, some repairs and issues are not warranty and may require payment. Examples include, damage due to user error, out of warranty components such as batteries, labour not covered under the current warranty period. Note also that Champion has NO pick-up and delivery allowance for warranty, this is a service I Know A Guy provides exterior from warranty coverage and is associated with a charge depending on location and distance. All terms and conditions relating to your Champion unit (including what is covered under warranty) can be found in your manual or on Champion’s website. Note also warranty is provided and approved at the discretion of the manufacturer (Champion). I Know A Guy can only provide warranty repairs approved by the manufacturer, all decisions in relation to what is to be covered under warranty is completely determined by the manufacturer (Champion).

Please also note that warranty repairs take longer than regular repairs because they must go through an approval process with the manufacturer. At I know A Guy we strive to provide timely service, but due to requirements of warranty to be approved and documented in accordance with the manufacturer, the time for repair, parts ordering and overall completion are slowed. Please have patience in the process and when communicating with staff.
